Just spent yet another glorious weekend in Hythe! This time with my best friend Jessie and her boyfriend Dave. It really was glorious this weekend, the sun shone every day! Stu, Jaya and I drove up on the Friday night; we got Jaya ready for bed the plan being that she would sleep in her carseat till we got there and then we would just transfer her over to the travel cot. For some strange reason though Jaya stayed awake for the whole journey! She wasn't upsetor bothered at all, she just chatted away in the back the whole way there only falling asleep in the last 5 minutes of the journey! Unfortunatly the journey took us 3 hours rather than the usual 1 1/2 hours. They had closed part of the M25 because of a nasty accident the day before so we had to go cross country and got stuck behind a %$*&£ caravan the whole way there! Such a selfish driver he had a huge line behind him and it would have been easy for him to pull over for 3 minutes and let us all pass but noooo we all had to go at 20 miles an hour all the way there ugh! By the time we got there we were shattered and starving so we got a fish and chips from the first place we saw. That appeared to be someone's front room that had been converted into a fish and chip shop back in the 20's! The bulk of the room was taken up by a huge bizarrely deco deep fat fryer which resembled a church organ. The woman who served us had to be the slowest moving fish and chip seller in Great Britain! Stu was in danger of splitting his sides trying not to laugh so he came back to the car and sent me out to pick up our food. Finally we got the apartment, settled Jaya into bed and sat down with our meal and a beer.

Jessie and Dave arrived at lunchtime the next day so we had a spot of lunch in the apartment before heading out to look around Hythe and stop off at the odd pub. Here we are outside a pub we've christened "the White Rat" because of it's strange sign but it's actually called "The White Hart". Stu is taking the photo.

Hmmmm nice skip in the background! It's actually quite a nice little outside seating bit! That evening Stu made his signature dish, lasagne, which was gorgeous (although the chef wasn't completely happy with it!) and we ate out on the balcony of the apartment. Here is Jess and Dave....

...and Stu and I....

This shot is actually meant to be of the moon reflecting on the sea behind us, but for some reason Stu got me in too!

The sea air (and possibly the beer!) got to our heads a bit and after a bit of flying practice..

...we were all in bed by 11.00pm!

The next day we had lunch at a new gorgeous restaurant in Hythe called Tia Louby. They were very impressive and very welcoming to mucky Jaya! Jessie has always been great with kids so Jaya loves her but she also took a shine to Dave...

who seems to be a natural with babies! Jaya was showing off her pointing skills, she has two differant hand outreached gestures, one means "what is that" with the index finger pointed out more than the rest and accompanied by the sound "dod?" and the other means "I would like that please" with the whole hand outstretched accompanied by the sound "la". She kept asking about a boat on the sea, first asking us what it was and then when we told her a few times she told us she wanted it! I wished I could have just plucked it out of the sea for her! Speaking of whom I'd better cut this short as she's saying "a doydle doydle la la la" to let me know it's time for her bedtime milk! I'll just quickly say that a great weekend was had by all and Jessie and Dave were fantastic company, as always! I'll leave you with a pic of me with my best friend!

I've come back on very quickly to add that whilst I was letting Jaya have some nappy-free-time just now before I got her ready for bed she was standing holding on to the small table we have in her room. She looked over to me and gave me this really sly little smile before lifting her arms up in the air, taking the two steps to the futon and then grabbing the edge of it whilst boucing up and down and saying "yay!" with great pride and excitement!! That girl is sooooo close to walking!
